1,679 = 23 × 73, a product of two primes. Arrange the bits in 73 rows of 23 and you get the numbers 1–10, the elements of DNA, the double helix, a human figure, the solar system and the telescope itself. In August 2001 a near-identical "reply" appeared in a field beside the Chilbolton radio telescope in England. It is widely considered man-made — and so do we. So let's all reply, together.
